Abstract

Jean Baudrillard in his work ‘Simulacra & Simulation’, illustrates loss of meaning in contemporary world. This paper explores the notion of hyperreality, where real is lost in representations. Baudrillard contends that simulations are so pervasive that it is difficult to differentiate between what is real and what is simulated. The loss of authenticity in signs and images is the innate characteristic of hyperreality. The pervasion of media and technological advancements has altered the picture of reality in every sector, be it art, cinema, war, commodity and even education, thus leading to a loss of meaning in cultural and social constructs. This analysis implores to critically reflect on the allures of hyperreal age, which diminished the meaning of everything and rendered it irrelevant
